At Roblox, we are committed to providing a fair hiring process that evaluates if candidates have the knowledge and skills required for success in roles at Roblox. We use standardized assessments to measure candidates’ knowledge and skills in a consistent, fair, reliable, and valid way.
Our Problem-solving assessments are a series of game-based assessments to gain insight into how you think. You have ~50 minutes total to complete them.
In our Communications Assessment you will be asked to explain the methods you used to approach the Problem-Solving task. Reflection will be in the form of a short essay, and completed directly after you finish the first problem-solving assessment. You will have ~20 minutes to complete this task.
For our Decision-making assessment, you will be given scenarios and you are prompted to respond on what you believe is the Most Effective or Least Effective approach. This task will take ~20 minutes.
CodeSignal is our coding skills assessment, used to understand each candidate’s technical skillset and background. We ask all candidates to take the Roblox Coding Assessment through CodeSignal when applying. The Roblox Coding Assessment will take 50 minutes.
What to Expect
Throughout the Roblox selection process you will be presented with a series of different surveys and assessments to complete. Our assessments will ask you to demonstrate a range of varying cognitive skills as you work to solve tasks effectively and efficiently.
Our hiring process begins with a link to your personalized assessment, which will direct you to a list of assigned tasks to complete. Before you reach this list, you will be asked to agree to several terms and conditions; please review these carefully as they are legally binding. You may also be asked to…
- Share your Roblox username, in the event you have been assigned one or more Roblox-based tasks. If you don’t have a username, you can create one and download the Roblox application on Roblox.com.
- Complete a quick systems check, which will verify if your computer meets the technical requirements for your assessment.
After completing these steps, you will be directed to your assessment dashboard where you will see your assigned tasks, along with your deadline to complete those tasks.
You will begin each cognitive skills task by completing its respective tutorial. Roblox tutorials are designed to provide you with all of the necessary information you will need to understand the structure, controls, and goals to be successful within an allotted amount of time. Importantly, once you begin a cognitive skills task, you will have a fixed amount of time to complete it. This time limit continues even if you close out of the ongoing task. So be aware that once you begin a task, you will need to be able to complete it within the specified amount of time. Be mindful of this requirement, and allow yourself enough time to complete a task before you begin.
Some, but not all, of Roblox problem-solving skills tasks are broken up into a series of sections to complete. These separated sections typically resemble each other, but each requires you to use various problem solving skills in order to succeed. Any changes to the goal for a task will be explicitly stated, informing you about what is expected of you during each section of a task. Across all of our Roblox tasks, the format of each task may look quite different from one to the next as each task is designed to test different aspects of your cognitive abilities.
